Missing my dad on the physical plane is not easy thing to handle but knowing the essence of my dad (Ken) is always with me makes my heart smile. When loosing a loved one it truly one of the hardest tragedies anyone can go through. This includes pets, friends and family members. The circle of life my dad always said it helped me understand in this moments of sadness. Ken Legary always gave me encouraging words to be better, push harder and live with passion. He was tough on me throughout my childhood. Work work work. As a family business growing up we took in the energy of always striving to be the best! I’m so grateful for my dads words of wisdom as he supported me on anything I did.
My dad was my best friend - we laughed, cried and and had fights too. But all in all my dad was truly any daughter could have asked for. I miss his talks of business. I personally learned so much as a young child growing up, I had amazing opportunities as I grew up going to trade shows around the U.S. such as Reno, Nevada and Chicago, Illinois. We travelled to Hawaii, Florida and many other beautiful places in Canada. My mom and dad created a business called Video King. My parents started this business when no one even knew what Video/VHS/Beta was. Creating a company from the bottom up takes courage, hard work and expertise. My parents had it all!! I was around 14 years old when my parents flew to B.C. they had a business meeting with a well know musician back in the 80’s. I have a signed poster from the artist. But the deal somehow changed course and my parents ended up having a stack of movies but no home. So they created Video King where they drove the White Cadillac to Rural Manitoba seeking locations to put our movies to mamma and pappa grocery stores, warehouse stores and gas stations. My dad was a t.v sales person for Sylvania back then so he had an inside nudge to start this business over 40 years ago. My mom and dad created the logo and name. Years went by the industry exploded!!! Everyone became a Video dealer. We became friends with several such as Country Video, Bills Video and Video 1001. The opportunities that were created was truly a dream. My parents bought there dream house which was over 9,000sq feet. Everything in my life was very surreal. The abundance was encompassing us. As a family as stayed humble and always cherish the rewards that was given to us. My family worked very hard to create this exquisite lifestyle we had. Video rentals became an industry that was full of surprises and excitement for those that were in it know exactly what I am talking about. Video King is my families legacy. The Legary Family started this business venture and it will always remain that way. Love you so much Ken Legary my dad. ❤️🙏🏼
